Help! My 3 Year Old
is addicted to the IPAD
How a worried mother used Montessori LTP System to combat effects of screen addiction.
My 3-year-old daughter is addicted to the iPad.
She grabs it as soon as she wakes up lays down on the couch with it. If I try to get her interested in doing something else, she couldn’t care less.
She won’t even get up to use the bathroom and just pees herself on the couch.
Lately, she’s even been using it while eating, which means she hardly eats anything (I know, my fault for allowing it). When she’s on the iPad, she completely ignores me and doesn’t respond at all. And if the battery dies or she can’t have it for some reason, she throws a massive tantrum. If her brother even goes near her while she’s using it, she gets extremely angry.
I realise this is out of control and has to stop. Can someone help?
Regards
Sarah
UPDATE:
Hi,
Thanks a lot!
I’ve started using the Montessori LTP system with my daughter and she really loves it.
I’m gradually getting her to stop playing games online and instead focus on LTP activities. I can definitely see a big change in her behavior – she’s more engaged and gets along better with me and her brother.
Now, I only let her use it for 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the evening. Then, I switch her over to the Montessori LTP session for the rest of the evening. It’s so much easier to transition her now because I don’t have to fight her for the iPad.
I’m so grateful that I’ve finally found something she enjoys and feel like I’ve got my daughter back – thanks again!
